Planning & Community Development

The Planning & Community Development Department oversees and promotes economic development, business expansion, retention and relocation, and housing assistance/rehabilitation programs. The department assists with facilitating and preparing for the future growth and development of the City, ensuring that the high quality of life is maintained and enhanced and new businesses/jobs are developed and retained. Provides technical and professional staff support in all areas of development processing, environmental protection and city and regional planning. The department coordinates the review of development applications and maintains the City’s General Plan and Zoning Ordinance. The department administers project review, processes General Plan Amendments, site plans, zoning changes, permits, lot line adjustments, variances, conditional use permits, subdivision maps and other items. The department also provides administrative planning services to the Planning Commission, City Council and other City departments.
