Messages from the Project Team

At the recent Planning Commission meeting, held on July 1, 2021, the project team presented the Alternatives Land Use Summary Report (Report), which contained a recommended land use plan for consideration by the Planning Commission. The purpose of the meeting was to allow the public to comment on the land use alternatives and for Planning Commission to make a formal recommendation to the City Council on a preferred land use alternative.

After review, the Commission opted to recommend Land Use Alternative 4 with Tiered Urban Growth Boundaries, with the exception that the proposed medium high density residential land use category be removed and replaced with medium density residential.

The Fowler City Council will hold a public meeting for the General Plan Update on August 3, 2021 to consider the Report, as presented by staff, and select a preferred land use alternative. The selected alternative will become the land use plan proposed in the updated General Plan document and evaluated as part of the environmental review process. This meeting will build on feedback received at previous outreach events, including the recent Planning Commission meeting, held on July 1, 2021.

The City of Fowler is observing all recommended social distancing guidelines and requires that all participants who have not been fully vaccinated wear a mask, in accordance with CDC guidelines.
